Colombia’s Huila region has fared extremely well in  quality competitions.
In the Cup of Excellence they captured 16 of the top 25 coffees. In the Illy competitions they managed to get into the top 5 for the last two years. In 2002 they took 1st through 5th place. Our coffee comes from a community of small coffee growers around the town of Pitalito. Intense aroma of sun dried tomato, dried fig and dark chocolate. In the cup I get a hint of green papaya, notes of apricot and carob. Nice, sweet - wine like acidity, medium velvety smooth body.
