P.N.G. is such a unique coffee, it has a body of Sumatra, an acidity of central American and sweetness of Brazil. It’s a platypus of coffee world. To my taste, it is the best South Pacific coffee to be had. Dry aroma of red bell pepper, allspice and cedar. In a cup, heavy full body, balanced acidity notes of hibiscus, vanilla, molasses and a hint of ginger. Complete, balanced coffee.
Note: coffee plants in Papua New Guinea originate from legendary Jamaica Blue Mountain seed stock, imported to P.N.G. in 1930’s. Does it taste the same? No, different soils, different climate… it has a very unique taste all of its own but it exhibits similar balance and complexity.
